Veteran shortstop Kim Jae-ho (39), a three-time champion in a Doosan Bears uniform, has officially announced his retirement after 21 years of professional baseball.
“Infielder Kim Jae-ho is putting an end to his 21-year professional career,” the Doosan Bears announced today (Nov. 14), adding, ”Kim recently informed the club of his intention to retire.”
Kim joined Doosan in the first round of the 2004 KBO Draft and served as the team's starting shortstop in the 2010s, contributing to three championships (2015-2016-2019).
In 1,793 career KBO games, Kim has a .272 batting average (1,235 hits in 4,534 at-bats), 54 home runs, and 600 RBIs.
